Scotland. At one point I think every designer took a pass at Scotland. It was the level that seemed to be the bane of all our existence. I had just finished the design of Madagascar City when I started my version of the level, formerly called “Scotland Ruins” to help separate it from the other versions (the “Ruins” was cut at the last moment because we knew Sunken Ruins would be the first DLC map). The goal was the create the largest level and to have the biggest slide in multiplayer (River would come later and be bigger).
The other goal was to create an organic terrain, to help separate it from the other levels. The organic terrain was also a personal goal to of mine so I could work on my modeling skills. The fact that it came after Mad-City influence the zip lines in the level, because Mad-City at one point had three zip lines that got cut to 1, so I was determined to get a few more into Scotland.
